When you talk Cal football offensively, start with Christopher Brown...

Does UNLV now have the caliber athletes to slow him down?

I know Cal plays in the Pac 12 but their offensive #'s were pretty woeful. Over the past 5 years UNLV had a knack for hanging around with these P-5 teams , UCLA, USC, Northwestern & beating Vanderbilt last year. I think it will be interesting for a variety of reasons.

Arroyo and Hansen both have familiarity in game planning for this team so that could play a bit of a factor as well.

Despite their struggles on offense they finished 8-5 with a win over Illinois in a bowl game. Will a new offensive Coordinator open them up?

Finished #117 in total offense. (Their defense was pretty solid #65 in total defense to finish 2019 but loses quite a few key contributors, as does the Rebels).

Cal’s new offensive coordinator was ran out Colorado by the Broncos.
At first there was balance and then they leaned on the pass more and more.
I don’t think Old horse mouth (John Elway) knows what he’s doing most of the time anyway.

This next video will show the formations that Cal will probably use against UNLV this fall.

I’m wondering if the 3 man front can stop this type of attack.

Yes 3-4 defenses have lead the NFL in rush defense numerous times.

It all comes down to NT play. You have to have a guy that can occupy two blockers.

One  issue last year was unlv ran a 4 3 defense and didn't have depth on the defensive line or linebackers to run it successfully. The 4 3 from my understanding requires lots of depth at the defensive line and linebackers and we just didn't have that last year

UNLV should have the LB’s capable of filling.

I look for Bill Musgrave to employ a fullback and try and pound Christopher Brown Jr.. Lots of double tight sets

Cal’s new RB Coach has said he wants Brown to use less stiff arms and more shoulder pad.

Musgrave is old school NFL coach so I would agree with that

Maybe UNLV can get over the top of Cal’s secondary? The new secondary coach was giving up a lot of points at Arizona. 247sports

Defense will have to contain chase garbers if we can do that I think we have real shot at winning
