Looking at the season ending stats Defense will have to be the primary focus, not only in Scheme but recruiting obviously. As bad as it was at times this team loses 5 of the top 10 tacklers to graduation. Barring any other transfers there will need to be serious emphasis on the Secondary and D Line. LB has some decent players coming back but their roles will be much different with White, McCoy and Rayshad Jackson moving on.

Is white a junior or senior?

I was hoping if she hires Jim McElwain that he would in turn hire Tim Skipper as the DC.
I know the stats weren’t that good, but the defense was always on the field.
I’m confident Skip knows how to dial it up.

I thought so wasn't sure tho i would rather a fresh defensive coordinator come in I like skipper and some of the this he has done with the defense but I do believe with a new coach come ide like to see a new defensive coordinator with a bit more experienced like a Todd Orlando who has been a defensive coordinator in the mountain west be for I like coach Skipper tho

If there was a solid stat we could hang our hat on with the defense I wouldnt mind seeing Skipper stay on board but like most areas this year, defense trending the wrong way.

Only 12 Sacks on the season (next to worst in the country) and 9 INTS and 5 Fumble recoveries. Those #'s tell me all I need to know that some new direction is needed.

That's why I kinda want a new defensive coordinator along with new head coach

No matter who they bring in there has to be an emphasis on converting 3rd downs... Defense was on the field too much. Next year the offense will be the strength of this team.
Just remember Skip didn’t have the luxury of sitting players down when they missed tackles, just didn’t have that type of depth. I thought are defense played well on 3rd and 4th downs this year.
Next season if the Rebels don’t tackle well it will be the same ol’ stuff.

I was wondering if the UNLV offensive coordinator will go back down to D2? there are a ton of jobs open even Northern Colorado is looking for  a new Head Coach.

I wish the staff well no matter where they end up coaching.

It will be interesting to see if any of the assistants are retained for some continuity with the players. I know Cormier is longest tenured at the school.

I'd like to see Simmons and Irwin kept and move Skipper to linebackers coach

They played well in a few games.

Probably their best showing was vs a good Hawaii offense.

Their other two good showings were against two pretty pedestrian offenses in SDSU and Vandy.

My biggest concern would be that the pass rush continues to struggle.

Skipper is respected as a recruiter and position coach. He might get retained because of his recruiting ability.

Typically you'll see one, possibly two coaches retained.

I figure a couple will be kept

It would be a good idea if the Rebel team leaders encourage the other players to take full advantage of the new weight room & nutrition program while this transition is taking place.
Whoever is named strength coordinator for 2020, they need too know we want these players pushed to maximum effort.

Kickoff for the Cal game will be here in a blink of an eye.
DON’T LET NOBODY OUTWORK YOU THIS WINTER REBELS..NOW LETS GO!
