I, for one, have been very encouraged about the recruits that Coach TJO has been signing and offering. He knows what his system is and who he wants to play in it. The CBS Sports article that I tweeted about earlier today had an excellent point regarding recruiting stars. Does it really matter how many stars a recruit does or doesn't have if they play great or terrible? Troy Baxter was a 4 star recruit for Marvin and he was a train wreck.

UNLV has been a poster child program for recruiting star-studded athletes who struggle to compete in the MWC. Some have lived up to the hype, but there's been plenty who arrived with more ego than actual talent. There's probably a couple dozen prospects or so in every class that are head and shoulders above the rest, but after that, I believe any kid who comes in ready to work, earn his minutes, hone his talent and play hard-nose defense, has a chance to win at the collegiate level.

I don't hold out much hope for "hard-nose defense", other than our bigs. But having an offensive system in place will be a rare treat.
