Purdue vs Wake Forest : could be the defining game in the Odom (former UNLV HC) era , a loss will probably speed up the trajectory of Odom working somewhere else next season. game is on at 9am so fire up the coffee maker and start the day.
Memphis vs Boise State: This has CFP implications all over it, including us. If Memphis wins, they are running away with the CFP bid, a loss and it’ll start to get a little messy for the G6 bid. Either way UNLV (pending their performance vs UNT) will be in that conversation.
Montana State vs Reno : We’ll see if Reno has improved this season. A loss would be a giant setback for Choad vs his former team. Game will be on CW.
NDSU vs Air Force: With UNM playing a soft schedule and Hawaii struggling mightily, this game is an opportunity for both programs to put themselves right in the conversation for the MW title. Game on FS1.
Cal Poly vs SJSU: Tim Skipper (former UNLV coach) has Cal Poly rolling. They are 2-0 and a win would put Tim Skipper in the conversation for some g6 jobs.
New Mexico State vs Hawaii: Critical game for both head coaches. I think Chang is relatively safe but an 0-3 start would start the rumor and whispers. Conversely Sanchez (former UNLV HC) needs to win to keep his job there past this season.
Illinois State vs Northern Illinois: NIU may not be good this season but the conference cannot afford multiple FCS losses this week. 3 good FCS teams. San Jose State should win but the other games including this one is a crap shoot. Hope the Huskies can win.
Sidenote, there are only 3 conference members that are on linear TV this week, everyone else is on MW+. I’m curious to see the feedback on that and how it works out. I haven’t seen much advertising or promotion of the MW+.
